INTERIOR DESIGNERS: Kristen Rivoli | By Jim Kutchin

Building relationships with the vendors and experts that work on the home is an important part of our work in selling homes. We want our clients to have all the connections they need to make their housing dreams come true. We use our blog to introduce clients to some of the top home specialists working in and around Boston.

Today, we’ll profile a top interior designer. Real estate and interior design go hand in hand, and often we get the chance to work together on projects. During a sales transaction we will routinely reference the difference between “designer quality” and “developer quality” to our clients. In what has been a hot real estate market for many years, we see many developers who avoid using a designer when they sell out their condominiums. However, for resale of units, a designer can make all the difference!

Warm, inviting and effortless are great words to describe the interiors crafted by Kristen Rivoli of Kristen Rivoli Interior Design, as well as Kristen herself. From the custom designed rugs to the curated antiques to the lush inviting fabrics, Kristen’s interiors welcome you home at the end of the day to a relaxing environment that looks spectacular but, more importantly, feels good. In fact, Kristen strives to create a home that will feel comfortable for her clients without fuss; essentially effortless. Her work is contemporary and warm, giving it a timeless elegance. Her expertise blends traditional pieces with Mid Century designs or European antiques with Moroccan accents to create one of a kind, livable projects

A cornerstone of Kristen’s work lies in her keen color and detail as shown in many custom rugs she has created for clients. From a geometric pattern in tones of blue and beige used on a staircase, to a large custom area rug for a nursery; all exhibit unique patterns and color choices that meld beautifully with the selected furnishings. They help establish a room that is both unique and comfortable.

With a deep background in design and commercial interiors, Kristen launched Kristen Rivoli Interior Design in 2009. In nearly ten years, she has worked throughout the metro Boston area. From high rise condominiums in Boston, to lofts in the South End, to suburban residences, Kristen has a diverse client base including young families and empty nesters alike. She loves working with clients to incorporate pieces they cherish, to infuse a home with personality and warmth befitting each client. Often using pieces edited from a family or collection, new furnishings are added giving her interiors a contemporary nod, while not being cold or austere.

Recently completed projects for empty nesters include a home on Commonwealth Avenue that incorporates many of her client’s antique pieces but is complemented by contemporary fabrics and wall finishes for an updated warm feeling. Another recent project on Commonwealth Avenue has a more contemporary aesthetic but balanced by select wood pieces. Once again, timeless and comfortable. A large single-family project in Brookline shows her ability to tie a family home together, with segmented spaces for young children all the way up to the adults. Custom area rugs throughout add a unique sense of home for this active family, while use of color and tone set the stage for an inviting and welcoming home.
